From a german review in Fonoforum

""And herein can be found the strength of Musica ad Rhenum's interpretation : Seldom is French Baroque music offered with so much irresistible elan, can the structure be heard so clearly and are the melodies brought out with so much love for and attention to detail." Fonoforum"
The Glory of French Baroque
Johannes Climacus | Beverly, Massachusetts | 09/23/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This set is bounty indeed for Francophiles and all lovers of Baroque chamber music (I admit to being both). Musica ad Rhenum have done François Couperin proud, not only by giving us his complete ouvre for diverse instrumental ensembles (including an entire disc featuring viola da gamba), but also by giving performances of the highest quality. This group favors a robust approach to these kaleidoscopically variegated pieces (nothing wan or effete in their conception of gallantry); whether fizzing jollity or pensive pathos is called for, they do not shirk the expressive qualities of the music. They appear to be having a whale of a good time navigating these fairly extensive, and largely uncharted, waters; dull stretches are rare. Patches of slightly off-color intonation are, unfortunately, somewhat more common, though not so much as to diminish my enthusiasm for Musica ad Rhenum's accomplishment, which is to remind us anew of "la gloire" which was the High Baroque in France. The sound is strikingly vivid with good balance and true timbres.

I encourage anyone with an interest in the period, the composer or the idioms represented in this inexpensive set to explore it without delay. You will not be disappointed."
