CD Reviews

Romantic reverie

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Even though this album is a little sad, it's great to hear a mature Francoise Hardy in duet with old friends. Some of the songs are just beautiful, while some are very sad and perhaps thought provoking. As a fan of Francoise Hardy in her youth, I am thrilled to have this CD. AND it gives me a reason to brush up on some of my French vocabulary!"
Wonderful nostalgia

"A beautiful album. A compilation of duets with a who's who list of France and Europe's greatest. The version of Soleil with Alain Souchon is one of the best versions of Soleil ever. My Beautiful Demon is haunting and one cannot help but feel that Ben Christophers wrote this song with Francoise Hardy in mind. The late great Henri Salvador is also featured.

The only blight on the album is Julio Iglesias who turns the poignantly beautiful Partir Quand Meme into a parody with his grossly, contorted over pronounciation of the beautiful French lyrics. This one song is the reason I rate it 4 stars instead of 5"
