CD Reviews

Awesome 2nd album!
Iron Arrow | 08/18/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Forget Cassettes' music is all about contrast - soft vs. loud, slow vs. fast, tension and release. This is dynamic music, intense & energetic. The change from a duo to trio has added some sonic depth both from bass guitar and strategic backing vocals. The songwriting is complex and interesting, both musically and lyrically. This is not simple 2 or 3 chord progressions with hook and refrain; this is progressive music, full of tempo changes. The vocals at times are soft and almost timid-sounding, counterpointed by agressive, crunching guitar; then again, the guitar is subdued in other places, with Rhodes keyboard adding an atmospheric touch. The vocal on "Patience, Beth Reprise" is full of emotion. The drumming is solid, powerful, and varied.

All around, if you like indie label, alternative & progressive rock with a live, minimally-produced sound, I highly recommend Salt!"
Powerful. Dynamic.

"I agree 100% with Iron Arrow's review. And I probably can't expand on it in any useful way except to say I love it and I let it blare over and over every day since I got it. But of course I will try anyway.

Each instrument (including the vocals), if you were to pick them out individually, is very dynamic alone. And somehow together they do not clash, they enhance and compliment... the writing and arrangement is near masterful in my eyes. The lyrics are delivered with such a range of emotion its insane. Fiery and chilling and touching (to name a couple). What makes this album so important to me is the simple fact that I can feel how personal and important it is to the artist. It inspires emotion in me, the listener. That's my definition of true art. Great!"
