Synopsis

Product Description
From the heart of the Midwest rises a beast whose ferocity and aggression is rivaled only by its poise and focus. For two years For Today have clawed and scraped their way into the spotlight. Seldom is there to be found a band whose passion and integrity are matched by their technicality and musical merit. Music is a catalyst and For Today uses their August Burns Red-meets-Between The Buried And Me sound to spread their message across the nation. For Today have become widely known as one of modern metal's most technically proficient bands and have earned their spot by playing over 200 dates in 2007 alone. Fusing extensive and prestigious backgrounds in both hardcore and metal and promising to 'up' the touring ante in 2008 they have stamped their name in the hearts of fans from all across the globe.

For Today's debut full-length Ekklesia; produced by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Human Abstract) is marked for release on April 1 and with the backing of Facedown Records (along with a relentless tour schedule) For Today stands poised and ready to stake their claim in today's modern metal scene.

CD Reviews

Unexpectingly Good

"These guys know how to play. I really wasn't expecting much from it, at all and the only reason I picked it up was because I was curious on account of me having absolutely no idea who they were. This is a very good album.

It reminds me of a lot of other bands mixed together so I can't exactly say it extremely original, but it does have a good deal of aggression and hard riffs that I really got into while listening to it. The drummer uses his china a lot, and because of that, it sounds a lot like August Burns Red in the drumming department. Not a bad thing, because one of my biggest complaints with ABR's Messengers was that the drummer overused the china but this drummer doesn't exactly overuse it. He uses it at the right place and it flows well with the music. Everything else just sounds like a mix of a lot of good bands. The throaty vocals compliment the music perfectly and doesn't sound too forced at all. There IS clean singing and it can get a bit flowery but it didn't take much of the brutality away from me and it doesn't appear too often to be a big problem. It sounds good and, again, flows well with the music.

I definitely recommend this album as it's one the best releases of 2008 so far. Good sound. I'd say if you like bands like August Burns Red, At The Throne of Judgment and Between the Buried and Me this is definitely a good pickup."

"So, i actually picked this cd up at they're hometown cd release show. One of the high points of this album (to me) is the guitar work. I love it sooo much, and from knowing Ryan and getting lessons from him, I know that he is even better at guitar than this record actually even shows, so definitely be looking out for the new record whenever it drops...it's gonna be HUGE.

as for the d00d who said this: "These guys suck and his voice is just awful. His scream is worse than Still Remains... this isn't heavy music- it's a rip off of everything else out there"

you NEEEED to see them live if you thought that. His live scream is actually better than anyone else's i've ever heard live....or cd. Mattie is actually a freaking amazing vocalist...so if they're ever in your town, or around it... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check them out man, they are aMAZING! (esp. Live!)"
