Synopsis

Album Description
Flying Machines are that rare breed: A fresh-sounding New York band whose smarts and cleverness don't keep them from bringing the rock. Channeling artful influences such as Queen, the Police, Billy Joel and Ben Folds and great appeal to modern days fans of Killers, Kings of Leon, My Chemical Romance - they have clearly forged their own musical identity. From the first single, the irresistible pop gem "On A Whim" to the pure emotion of the carefully crafted "I Don't Remember Why" to the soaring melody and guitar lines of "Hopelessly Alone," and rockers such as "Talk About It" and " I Can't Stop", Flying Machines are taut, dynamic, sublime and totally unforgettable.

CD Reviews

"Talk About It" destined for #1
N. Scarmeas | NYC | 10/24/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Oh my! This band is awesome. I don't have time to write a full review, but the track "Talk About It" alone is worth the buzz it's generating. On a Whim is a catchy pop-rock tune that sounds a little like what Billy Joel would sound like if you ported his music to the 21st century (I'm not slagging off BJ!!). William's soaring vocals and John's stunning guitar work set to a backdrop of modern NYC rockabilities make these guys one of those few new acts worth adding to your CD collection. I love "I Can't Stop". William's voice has so much depth and range and I hear them and think of such other acts: Muse, Keene, The Killers, Billy Joel, and even a little Van Halen (John's massive guitar brings me back, yeah!!)..."
A fitting name for a band that takes you on an amazing music

"I first was exposed to Flying Machines when they did music for the television show Psych. Their "On A Whim" is catchy and definitely not your typical pop drivel. There's weight to the lyrics and to the spectacular riffs. Couldn't wait for the cd to be released and I wasn't disappointed. Yes, they will remind you of QUEEN and ELO and McCartney and other symphonic masters. But they are contemporary and alternative and interesting and compelling. Melodic and passionate. And William's voice... incredible. Their sound is a definite nod to a British element but their New York edge shines through too. Can't wait to see them live ...if they are anything remotely close to what they do in the studio when they perform live, it's going to be some pretty spectacular music. I'll be flying along with them as they soar to success."
