These works for solo flute are some of my favorites. The extended techniques he has developed permeate all the works on the CD, so that this truly has the feeling of an album.I bought this on a whim because I had heard some of Sciarrino's other work. The first time I listened to it I had to stop doing anything else and lie on the couch and listen. Sciarrino takes you into a fascinating universe of sound where the flute is not heard as an instrument but as a living creature. Mario Caroli's playing is inspired. The music explores all kinds of extremes, dynamic and otherwise, and Caroli never wavers. He possesses an antonishing technical ability."
