CD Reviews

Flaming Lips - It Overtakes Me
Ian Roegels | Edmond, Oklahoma | 02/10/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Since nobody else has said anything about this, I'll be the first to tell you. This cd isn't that bad. It's more of a "remix" ep actually. Here's the breakdown:

1: It Overtakes me - This is pretty much the album version, without the instrumental bit at the end

2: I'm Afraid of Dying... Aren't you? - This song uses samples from "It Overtakes Me" to create a new song. Very interesting.

3: Free Radicals (The Bird and the Bee Mix) - Interesting remix. Actually, to me it's more interesting than any of the Yoshimi remixes. I honestly thought this would be the next single... "It overtakes me" just seemed like an odd choice.

4: Time Travel?? Yes!! (With Steven Michael Burns) - This is not the same version that is on "The W.A.N.D." single, or even the 5.1 version of "At war with the mystics". This is yet another remix, only with Steven Michael Burns doing the vocal line.

Overall, it's an interesting listen. Mostly for the Lips fanatic. Casual listeners probably won't be that impressed."
