A Lost Gem

"As a huge fan of the relatively unknown and vastly underrated group "The Fixx" I simply love this release. Even if I were not a big fan of "The Fixx" I would find this one of the strongest recording I have heard in a very long time. The highlights of the recording are "Happy Landings", "Ocean Blue", "Freeman" and the quirky and urbane song "Elected" which certainly resonates with anyone who had very little trust of politicians. The vocal work of Cy on this recording is phenomenal and there is a range of musical styles all of which are performed with incredible craftmanship. Even if you don't like "The Fixx" I think that you would like this recording as it is a supreme effort all the way around."

"Finally, the elusive "Happy Landings" sessions. No more searching for those supposed 1000 copies (that I've never seen). The original versions of about half of "Elemental"; Very interesting to hear. I think the version of "We Once Held Hands" is a lot stronger but "Happy Landings" seems a little lacking. But the real treat here is the 5 unreleased tracks notably; "Modern World," "Mayfly," and the brilliant(Worth the price of the whole c.d.) "Sweet Pandemonium," here for the first time. The remaining two are "Freeman" and the abysmal "Elected." A must have for Fixx aficianados. Dave C."
Extraordinary . . . !

"I've loved The Fixx for nearly 20 years. This may be their very best work yet. It's that good. The five previously-released songs are actually better than the originals; this time around, they have a relaxed, acoustic, almost Cajun texture. The new material, though, is really stunning. By far, the best song on this release is "Mayfly" which speaks to the brief, but sweet, nature of life. This track, like the others, is gentle to the listener: It contains a brilliant message, but does not hit one over the head with it.If you like The Fixx at all, you will absolutely love this disc."
