"Before they were the kings of easy listening instrumental schmaltz, Ferrante and Teicher were actually pretty cool guys. They developed the "prepared piano", which consisted of various items being inserted into the piano strings, which changed the sound of the piano. This allowed them to imitate the sounds of other instruments using just two pianos. The resulting sound was a lot of fun to listen to, in that '50s hi-fi music kind of way. This particular CD is a reissue of an album from 1958. It's fun, wacky, kind of swinging music that fans of "bachelor pad music" should dig. The original album had 12 tracks, and this CD adds four bonus tracks from the album Ferrante and Teicher With Percussion. That album was the first time the guys worked with other musicians (percussionists, obviously)."
