"Well, I'm no Peter Schickle, so I cannot really adequately describe the music on this CD, but the samples provided did not do it justice. This is a beautiful recording by two wonderful British sopranos--Felicity Lott and Ann Murray. Graham Johnson plays the piano. This is a DDD recording, and among other places sounds great on my computer speakers (Encore 500, Multi-Media Speaker System).I am particularly fond of many of the pieces, which I belive were mostly written in the 19th Century. They are light and airy and condusive to lifting the heart--hence the sweet power of song. Works include Beethoven's Irish Songs (I didn't know he wrote any); Schumann's 'Liederalbum fur die Jugend'; Brahms' 'Vier Duette'; and an assortment by other well known composers including Faure, Berlioz, and Saint-Saens."
