Synopsis

Feeder's full-length debut album didn't set the charts alight in 1997, but it did make an impression on the angst-ridden-teen market. Polythene is a successful fusion of metal and indie rock, but what really sets it apart is its underlying melodicism. Like Therapy? and Smashing Pumpkins before them, this trio has a good idea about what makes great pop music. Tracks such as "Polythene Girl," "My Perfect Day," and "Tangerine" have enough heavy guitars to please the teenage fan base, yet are still bright and catchy enough to please pop fans. Meanwhile, it's a testament to the inherent unjustness of the universe that the album's highlight, "High," didn't take up residency at the top of the charts. --Robert Burrow

WOW!

"A totally amazing album, regarded by many fans as Feeder best work of their career, with "Comfort In sound", "Echo Park", "Yesterday Went Too Soon" and "Swim" also being amazing and incredible calssics as well. The first track is "Polythene Girl" which you may have heard on the original release of the album. However, this version is remixed so it sounds more smoother. The orignial one is brilliant, but this remix by Feeder's Grant in NY is better :-). Other tracks to look out for are "My Perfect Day" that lifts me up all the time, "Cement" which has very unusual and interesting lyrics that work brilliantly (check out Jon Lee's drum fills on the track too!), and the rest of the album for album of the yesr 1997 in my eyes and many other peoples too who have had the pleasure of hearing it!.It's critically acclaimed too, winning the vote for Metal Hammer magazine's "Album Of The Year" in 1997!."
Not to be missing from your collection!!

"This was Feeder's first album proper after the mini-album "Swim" was released. This album boasts Feeders live sound to the extreme and was by no wondering that this was Metal Hammer magazines album of the year in 1997.This version of the album contains a slightly different tracklisting and unfairly dismisses "Waterfall" from the original release that charted at No90 (this one got No65), but don't let that put you off!, as the newest track on here titled "High" which was Feeder's first bona-fide hit reaching No24, will without doubt be a treat to your ears once you hear it, and you'll be wanting to hear this beauty time and time again!!.As for the rest of the album, it is full of heavy guitar energy and blasting riffs, which made me reach for the air guitar and then the real thing!!, and I hope it does the same for you too!!!. One for anybodys collection, and had Jon Lee's drumming energy written all over it:), not forgetting the lyrical and guitar playing genius of Grant Nicholas, and the skilful bass playing of Taka Hirose!!"
Just buy it!!!!!

"After all the criticial acclaim it's had and the widespread fan opinion of it being their best album, your collection will not be the same with this amazing masterpiece missing from it!."
