CD Reviews

Nice, listenable new jazz
Ronald Weel | Watertown, WI | 02/13/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I just bought this CD, and on the way home I slipped it into my car CD player. It's good, fun to listen to, driving music. I think it's going to be popular with jazz lovers this summer...on the beach, on the road,on the deck, whatever. Fattburger has been around for a few years. I've got most of their CD's, and they have a contemporary, kind of "California", or "Florida"sound..(if their is such a thing!).Besides...you gotta love the CD cover, it just makes you want to relax and listen to jazz!"
BURGER NEEDS SOME SEASONING
Raymond D. Istorico | Sarasota, FL. United States | 01/06/2001
(3 out of 5 stars)

"No one is more of a Fattburger fanatic than myself and while I applaud the new web site as well as this release I also hope that the best work of the band is not behind them. You've Got Mail, No Problem, and Evan Marks's Nice Bits are worthwhile listening, but the other tracks fall flat. The collaborative songwriting approach that produced great songs in the past (such as 59th Street and Come and Get It with contributions by Steve Laury)and recent gems like Anythings Possible (via Kevin Koch and Even Marks)is lost here. Marks seems reduced to offering only one track per CD (usually the most blistering one). As great a songsmith as Carl Evans is (Good News, One Of A Kind, Walk Down), his easygoing, lilting approach needs some fire lit underneath. Maybe a live album would be a viable future release (as Fattburger really cooks in concert). In any case, more of a future musical contribution by Marks can ensure that the band does not rest (from a new CD release standpoint), on it's laurels."
You've Got Mail!
Lewis Amack | Monterey Park, CA United States | 08/08/2009

"I love Fattburger, and this CD is representative of their superlative jazz-funk style, but the only memorable track on this album is "You've Got Mail!""
