Mediocre

(3 out of 5 stars)

"lets start with the good. lil wayne is one of the hottest rappers around, and his flows on this cd are great for the most part. his lyrical metaphors and unique delivery are what initially seperated him from the less-talented cash money crew. in short, lil wayne is what makes this record worthy of 3 stars, without him it wouldnt be worth listening to. there are some decent beats and legitimate hooks as well. rick ross has a pretty sick verse in 'know what im doin.'

what makes this record almost unbearable is birdman. his raps are repetitive and boring, and his delivery lacks substance. as for his lyrics, all he raps about is money, cars, car accessories, car paint jobs, rims, etc... u pretty much get the picture. birdman seems to forget that being a good rapper requires flowing about multiple subjects and issues, not just cars. birdman, we understand you have a grip of money and some nice whips, now find something else to rap about you talentless moron. another thing on this record that annoys the s@#$ out of me is the skits. four wasted tracks with some italian mobster talking about mob stuff, maybe out of some movie, I DONT CARE. since lil wayne and birdman are neither italian nor connected to the mob, these skits make absolutely no sense and are a waste of cd space.

overall, this album is decent at best. download it, dont buy it."
Lil Wayne should've done this one solo....

"I decided to give this album only 3 stars because only half of it is good. Lil' Wayne is a great lyricist, with crazy metaphors and word play, and the production on this album is sick; however, Baby is the downfall to this album. In my opinion, he is the Puff-Daddy of rap. I love most of the tracks on this album, but I always have to fast-forward or skip through Baby's verse.

Basically, if this album would have been absent of Baby, it would have been ALOT better. End of story.

Surprise album of the year!!!

"Wow! I must say that this one caught me off guard. I mean I know Lil' Wayne has been on fire lately but I still wasn't expecting the quality that I heard on this CD. Collaboration albums tend to dissapoint because the chemistry which is usually great on a couple of tracks ("Stuntin' Like My Daddy") usually cannot sustain a whole album.

I didn't believe that it would be any different when you pair a "Super MC" and a "Business Man" for what is surely a gimmick album. But I was wrong, this album was a very serious project for the two (you can tell from the quality of the production) and the chemistry is real.

The tag team effort works because Baby is not afraid to let BMJR take centre stage, he is comfortable with his Pras or Phife role, getting in where he fits in. Plus the beats are on steroids throughout.

The album is very long but judging from the quality of the bonus disc ("Brown Paper Bag" is sick) they had no choice but to make it long. The subject matter also rarely strays from their tried and tested drug/hustler/pimp tales which is a testament of where commercial hip-hop is in general.

If hip-hop sales are falling its because rappers insist on alienating anyone outside their hood. And even then, I don't here too many tracks from the point of view of the crackhead or the prostitute or even the rapper who is going through everyday struggles. Anyway, I digress.

This album is hot and is a nice fix before Tha Carter III and I Can't Feel My Face"
