CD Reviews

Pussycat Re-Mixed: Very cool
C. Reth | 07/18/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you have been following Taime with the Newlydeads, you will find this CD really fun. Old FP songs re-done in the contemporary Newlydeads sound. This is not a greatest hits album, it is a remix album. Don't be surprised that the songs sound nothing like the 80's glam era anthems.A few of the songs were no longer recognizable, so even unindustrialized I prefer, or at least am conditioned to like the originals. As with his Newlydeads albums, Taime has his hands all over this project. From the cover art to the music itself. There is even a disco classic covered for good measure!"
TAKE THE PLUNGE BETWEEN THE VALLEY!

"Yes, although this album is Techno remix's of some great Faster jams. it is worth the buy. i just got to see them live and the Cat is better than ever. some people can't live without the same old tired version of "Bathroom Wall", but this version breathes new life into the glam classic. To my fellow reviewers take another listen, the album isn't like the rest of the silly Cleopatra remix albums. Taime really learned something from his tenure in the almighty Pigface. it's got twists and turns that you haven't heard yet. QUITE SIMPLY, LET GO OF THE EIGHTIES! LIVE IN THE NOW! FASTER FOREVER!"
Ai yi yi...this is terrible.

"I can't really blame Taime Downe for trying some experimentation. Who wants to do the same thing over and over for the rest of their life?

BUT...he REALLY should have made it 100% clear that this was a remix, redo, whatever the h*** it is. That way, those of us who find nothing wrong with the original versions of these songs won't get duped into buying something that...well...is just really bad.

I can't remember where I heard it, but someone once said (paraphrased), "After the songs go out into the world, they're not really yours anymore. They belong to all the people who listen to them and believe in them."

If you enjoyed F.P. back in the day, you will probably feel insulted by this disc. It's almost like Taime Downe is calling you an idiot for liking these songs (in their original incarnations) and offering you something "better" or "cooler".

He really needs to call his band something other than "Faster Pussycat" because this is NOT Faster Pussycat, nor is the band on the other recent albums.

Man, I don't REMEMBER the last time I had this negative of a reaction to a record.
