CD Reviews

Outstanding!

"After many years out of the concert stage, for the first time after all Eumir releases a concert in Rio de Janeiro, full of freshness good rhythm and musical arrangements, as he say's in the dvd, he never had a concert in Rio because he never was invited to do it, but justice does it all!, very recommendable for the fans of Deodato, a cd rich in musical words that is full of emotion from beginning to end!, please enjoy it, one of some cd's that wake up emotion and versatility, very enjoyable."

"Face it, you either love this artist or hate him. His music is not for the Bebeto or Powell purists. So when you see a live recording of songs oft recorded on previous labels and sessions by Deodato, you figure it is generally re-hashed arrangments from those sessions. This shows you are so wrong in your theory here. Depdato puts a very groovy re-design of two superb titles. Carly and Carole and the wonderful San Juan Sunset. On the former, you cannot help but feel the beat and tune that made the first a classic version, but when he goes into his "solo" stand by, you are taken away with the older-but wiser version here and will surely cherish this as the better of the two. On the San Juan Sunset it all came to me. This guy loved doing this, had a freedom that maybe the studio supressed and again got the second time around exactly right. I promise you this, if you only moderately loved him live, as in the A&M debacle...you'll absolutely love this disc. The fact that a DVD of the concert is included makes this whole thing a diamond!"
