They Just Bring It, Big Time!!
ROGER L. FOREMAN | Bath, Maine | 01/15/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Having seen them twice, once just after the release of _Tuesday Wonderland_, I can say that they are an amazing display of technique meeting creativity meeting passion. Nice mix. . . . Most of this material is from that CD, with a couple of nice tracks from previous efforts. A couple of "fan favorites" add a very nice touch, separating this from just being live performances from their latest CD. That, in and of itself, would be great, but more is always better.

A majority of the tracks run well over ten minutes, which is what they do in concert. They take their basic outline/melody/hook, then go from there. Where they go in the intervening minutes is anybody's guess, but the journey is always fun. The solo skills of all three musicians are impressive, particularly live. They each have multiple moments in the spotlight, and their interplay is striking. One bass solo by Berglund, in particular, blew me away in this set.

I hate to compare their improving skills (or whatever it is) to other groups, since I'm no expert, but I do know what I like. They are the second (at worst) group to whom I like to listen, particularly because of the all-for-one nature of the three. The Keith Jarrett Trio is still out in front, at least for me. The years they have spent together, 10+, really manifest themselves.

Bottom Line: This group is impressive and deserves a wider audience than they may have. If you are visiting this site by intent, then you are already a fan: enjoy. If you are here by accident, please take a listen and enjoy the ride."

"
As a fan of the band (having all of their CDs back to From Gagarin's Point Of View) I must say the trio's already wonderful music really comes to life in this live set... I am not usually so enthusiastic with live releases but this one is stellar!"
