Jazz Pianist | Milwaukee, WI USA | 07/15/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "How wonderful it is to have these terrific studio tunes of Erroll's from the mid-1950's available for the first time on CD. Erroll's playing is joyous, as always, and it's always fun to hear him playing extended tunes like these and really stretching out with the trio, changing "gears" endlessly throughout. Many of the tunes are 4,5,6 even 8 minutes in duration, and Erroll is clearly relishing the opportunity to give these fine standards a real workout. Sound quality is very good. Was especially fun for this writer to find my 1995 interview with George Shearing quoted prominently in the liner notes on this import disc--though properly credited with conducting the interview, Erroll's manager had "borrowed" this interview, without permission, to publish on her [...], and, amusingly enough, near and far, the interview continues to be "borrowed...." It's all good though--happy to help promote the great Erroll Garners' legacy in whatever way I can... You will be more than pleased with the great music on this fine new 2-disc set.
