I was enthralled with her soulfully smooth voice back when I was a kid.
This collection features several selections from that album, but is an excellent overview of some of her finest work, including the Dolly Parton-Linda Ronstadt "Trio" days. "Portraits" contains some of my very favorite Emmylou tracks: "Roses In The Snow", "Millworker", "Two More Bottles Of Wine", "Luxury Liner", "Save The Last Dance For Me". Some of her best duet work is here, too, including her early work with Gram Parsons." |
