CD Reviews

I can't believe I stooped to this (4.5)

"Anyone who has read any of my reviews surely has realized how picky I am when it comes to rap. However, there are two rappers that I can listen to no matter what. One of those is Mr. Mathers himself.

While I thoroughly enjoy all his major label releases, Raw and Uncut is where its at for people who like Em for his disses.

I always liked Eminem for his intensity (a la Soldier from The Eminem Show), a plus in addition to that is that he can inject humor into his rhymes without sacrificing quality. Everything he's done has had those qualities but Raw and Uncut takes that to a new level...except with more anger than ever before. There's no doubt that Raw is nothing but a diss record on everyone who's crossed him recently.

Of the 15 tracks, 8 are incredible and prove to have a lasting impact. What's really great about this CD, though, is the fact that all the guest rappers are actually good and seem to be as angry as Em (see Xzibit on Say My Name specifically). The absolutely BEST songs on here, if I had to pick, are Rap Game (Bump Heads), Say My Name, Nail In The Coffin, and Sauce. Rap Game is awesome simply because both Em and 50 Cent are just showing off their skills. Say My Name is just an intense song in which Xzibit really shows his anger towards everyone. Nail In The Coffin, well it's just a no-holds-barred diss record, so it's hard not to get engaged.

And finally there's Sauce. The spoken word opening lets you know that you're in for a very angry track.

"I just want the whole world to know that I did not start this, but I will finish it"

I don't know why, but that's just cool. ANYWAY! He takes aim solely at Benzino and The Source. Kinda just gotta hear it to appreciate it.

So there it is, probably the angriest CD Eminem will ever put out. To any naysayer thinking that Eminem is overrated, just listen to this. He backs up his talk. Highly recommended."
