CD Reviews

Very Listenable Mix of Chic Jazz and Earthy Melancholy
Roger Hargrove | Arizona, USA | 10/18/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first saw the YouTube video of Je Suis Jealouse which I loved (check it out to get a feel for this album). I had to buy the album from the French Amazon.com site, so I'm glad to see it's available now on the US site. I know $37 is a lot for a CD, but I think, as for me, this album will become one of your favorites. The lyrics are a mix of French and English and use a jazz base with some pop and folk influence for a very nice, sophisticated, yet original sound. Her voice has authenticity and can deliver a mood to a song as only a few artists can (I'm not comparing her to him, but think of the way Chet Baker gave a certain mood to a song). When one of the songs from the album come up randomly in my play list when I'm driving I'm always happy to get to listen to it. I love the French lyrics, but her accent lends well to English lyrics also, giving a simple song a level of sophistication that a native english speaker could not, in an Ertha Kitt kind of way."
