CD Reviews

Emotion and power!

""We Can Make the Morning" alone makes this cd worth buying. It's a very soulful power ballad about never giving up. And hey, we finally get to hear "Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago" as a complete song, and it's a GREAT up-tempo gospel song that ranks among the best he's ever done. In gospel, he also does "Miracle of the Rosary" and "Put Your Hand in the Hand". another great up-tempo song that would inspire the most jaded of people. There are some great ballads, like a powerful version of the country hit "Help Me Make it Through the Night" in Elvis soul-southern style. The song "Sylvia" is absolutely phenominal, and Elvis' voice shows it's strength in this motown-sounding song. The only downside is the bad mix on Elvis' rendition of "Hey Jude", he sounds like he's singing through a tin can. You can get a better version of Hey Jude on the cd "Too Much Monkey Business" available through 1-888-ElvisRocks, the Graceland ordering number. With sensitive, plaintive ballads like "Early Mornin Rain" and "Until It's Time for you to go", coupled with the powerful vocal performances on this album, you can't go wrong."
70s Elvis at his peak!

"You know at first I was skeptical about this album but I'm GLAD I got it. The songs are touching. Help Me Make it through the Night, Early Mornin Rain, and Sylvia to name a few. Fools Rush In is great, but I also heard the recent Today, Tomorrow, and Fover box set version first. So I'm a lean a little bit moe towards that direction. Even Hey Jude, a Beatles song which I never thought that much of gets raised a notch by Elvis. BRAVO! SHout this album to the land!!!"
Great (But Ovelooked) Album From Elvis' 70's Catalog

"This album has always recieved a lot of criticism and I always wonder why? I think this is an extremely strong album. All ten tracks are solid and there are several major standouts. First "Early Morning Rain" a Gordon Lightfoot classic is completely re-defined. One of my favorite Elvis songs! Another favorite is the lead track "Help Me Make It Through The Night". I have never heard anyone do this song better. Othe standouts are "Until It's Time For You To Go", "We Can make The Morning", and "Sylvia". We also get to hear the full "Born 10,000 Years Ago" from Elvis Country fame. All in all, Elvis is in strong voice with great songs. Well worth it!"
