Elodie Lauten is a composer, keyboardist and producer who has been described as a pioneer of post-minimalism, and a force on the new music scene. This collection features three of her major keyboard works, including Variations on the Orange Cycle, cited by the American Music Center as one of the 100 great American works of the 20th century. More than two dozen other recordings of her music have been released on 10 labels. Lauten has received several major awards and performances at many venues in New York and Paris, including the Lincoln Center Festival, the New York City Opera, the Whitney Museum, The Kitchen, the World Music Institute, the SEM Ensemble and the Paris Museum of Modern Art. Lauten s Symphony 2001, was premiered by the SEM Orchestra in New York. She is a major force on the downtown New York music scene and is director of Lower East Side Performing Arts.
