CD Reviews

NOT FROM THE ELECTRIC COMPANY SHOW FOR KIDS
Wendy Rutkowski | Colorado | 06/20/2006
(1 out of 5 stars)

"This is not a "best of" cd of songs from The Electric Company show we knew as kids in the 1970's - please be advised and don't make the same mistake I did when I bought it thinking I'd hear "Faster than a rolling O" or "Hey You Guys!" and instead was in for a huge techno suprise."

"Greatists Hits = Remix Album (yes. Odd but funny.)

There are some big names for remixers. Most of these remixers are known for their eclectic styles.

This album is mostly ambient, kinda noisy, kinda reverby, and a little all over the place. As far as similarities to other Electric Company? I'd say it most similar to Studio City, but it doesn't punch as hard, or die off as politely. It has its moments: the U-ziq remix is great. Sounds like a cross between Royal Astronomy and A Pert Cyclic Omen.

The Blectum from Blechdom is quite interesting too -- but difficult.

I would give this three stars because it kinda drags a bit much. Often in an ambient dirrection similar to Selected Ambient Works v.2 -- which is my least favorite Aphex Twin (pre-2000). In other words the loops tend to loop too long for my taste. Thats why I'm into Brad Laner's work. It is either very concise or intricite enough to loop for short periods and be very interesting all the way.

I gave it 4 stars because the reviewer below took out his/her frusteration /incopetence on their review...

(of course this is not the Theme song to "THE Electric Company" -- do some research...) Also, the Front Cover is a photo of a building imploding."
