CD Reviews

VERY NEARLY A CENTENARY REISSUE
Barry McCanna | Normandy, France | 07/17/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Edmundo Ros was born in Trinidad in December 1910, and came to England in 1937. The contents is presented in three sections; first, nine vocal tracks recorded between 1951 and 1954 and designated as from "The Bagatelle Club", then 12 instrumentals dating from between 1944 and 1952, and finally four vocal sides recorded in 1957 as from the Edmundo Ros Club. This is the authentic Latin-American sound, played by one of the leading bandleaders in that genre. Sadly, track list information is sparse, but the sound quality of these remastered Decca recordings is excellent."
