I absolutely love you, Edie !!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Edie Adams isn't remembered as she should be remembered; she was a wonderful songbird and her performances always proved it. She invariably tried to outdo even herself to please her fans; and they loved her for it. This album has several songs on it that Edie sings faultlessly; and that's grand. In addition, the quality of the sound on this CD is excellent and the artwork is very well done.

The CD starts with Edie doing a splendid job on "There May Be a Love." This song features Edie in her natural element; she's a fine entertainer and she performs this song to perfection--and beyond! The strings are used to great advantage and this makes a fine opening number for the album. "He Don't Wanna Be Kissed (Lo Mammeta E Tu)" also has Edie squarely front and center--which is right where she belongs! Edie handles complex tempo and key changes on "He Don't Wanna Be Kissed (Lo Mammeta E Tu)" like the pro she always was; and I'm very impressed. The male backup singers harmonize wonderfully--not that Edie ever needed backup, but they do sound pretty good anyway.

"Why Can't I?" is a most romantic number that Edie delivers without ever letting go of a superfluous note! I love it. The music fits perfectly with Edie's vocals; but wisely the musicians never try to steal the spotlight away from Edie--her singing is the punch of this song! "Swiss Holiday" is also very well done; and listen for yet another gem in "He Was Too Good to Me." "He Was Too Good to Me" has a great arrangement and Edie uses this opportunity to open up and show just some of the full range of her voice. Terrific!

"If You Don't Love Me" strikes me with its natural beauty; Edie sings this with panache and it's a great tune that goes well with the other songs on this CD. The lush arrangement is very easy on the ear. In addition, "Sailorman" sports an energetic flavor that is infectiously happy and upbeat; Edie does this beautifully and I really like "Sailorman." "I Must Love You" gets the royal treatment from Edie who sings this with genuine feeling and passion the way she always sang.

The theme from "Studio X" has another full, lush arrangement that is again very easy on the ear; this is great music. The CD ends well with Edie Adams performing "There's So Much More;" and it's amazing.

Edie Adams could really sing; and albums like this are a must-have for her fans. I hope that she gains new fans with sales of CDs like this one--it would be great if this were re-released as it really does Edie justice as a professional songbird. This CD is also a fine starting album for people just discovering the magical artistry of Edie Adams."
