"Remembering Eddie Jefferson is a straight Jazz CD that I conceived, produced, played on and was recently released under my own name by a label from Sweden. It pays homage to Eddie Jefferson who was the Godfather of Vocalese. It is a groovy and swinging session (straight Jazz) featuring a number of legendary performers... including James Spaulding on alto and flute, Ben Dixon on drums, Randy Johnston is on Guitar, Coleman Mellett (who sounds a lot like Grant Green) also plays guitar - - I'm kicking Hammond bass and holding down the fort on the Hammond B-3 as Giacomo Gates (2001 Downbeat Poll Nominee) will hip you to Eddie Jefferson (Joe Carroll and King Pleasure's) groove. For those of you that dig straight swinging Jazz, and even the whole blue note sound, to hear Spaulding blowing that wild alto and haunting flute over Ben Dixon's groove alone is worth the purchase !"

"I heard Now's The Time on WBGO and went out to get this album right away. Giacomo Gates is one of the greatest Jazz vocalists out there. James Spaulding is really good. We'll be hearing more of Eddie !"
