Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered edition of this 1967 Blues classic from Eddie Boyd backed by his Blues Band that featured Peter Green, John Mayall, Aynsley Dunbar, Tony McPhee and other British luminaries. Edward Riley Boyd was born on Frank Moore's Stovall Plantation, Mississippi in 1914. Teaching himself to play piano and guitar, he moved to Memphis in 1936 where he played on Beale Street with his band the Dixie Rhythm Boys. Hoping to record, Boyd left Memphis for Chicago in 1941 where he worked in the city's Blues joints with Johnny Shines, Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters, and played in the recording studio regularly. 16 tracks. BGO.

"This album from the late 60's features eddie Boyd backed by some of the best British blues musicians of the time. Peter Green and Tony McPhee on guitar;John Mayall on harp;John McVie on bass; and Ansley Dunbar on the drums.Basically the Mayall band of the time. Boyd later went on to cut some tunes with Fleetwood Mac. A solid set of chicago blues!"

"Not as good as his Blue Horizon output. You wouldn't even know Peter Green attended the sessions, if the sleeve didn't mention him. I bought this to complete my Peter Green collection & have barely played it. You have to be in the mood for piano music. Some songs feature Eddie only. Would recommend trying the Complete Blue Horizon Sessions of both Eddie Boyd & Otis Spann first."
