1981's Late Night Guitar continues to be one of Earl Klugh's most popular recordings. Three years later, he decided to continue the series with Nightsongs. Subtitled More Late Night Guitar, Nightsongs featured gorgeous orchestral arrangements backing Earl's acoustic guitar, interpreting a selection of absolutely beautiful melodies with great sensitivity and depth. The emphasis here is on modern standards (The Look of Love, The Shadow of Your Smile) and one of Klugh's favorite sources, music from film (The Pawnbroker, Picnic.) Of particular interest is the only instrumental version of the gorgeous Stevie Wonder/Carmine Coppolla song Stay Gold from The Outsiders. Timeless melodies, gorgeous arrangements, and the soothing sound of Earl Klugh: the perfect soundtrack for a romantic evening.
