"Dwight Lamb is an excellent fiddler and accordion player. He also judges fiddle contests, and he has helped to encourage scores of musicians across the country. This CD is terrific. His playing is smooth and lively, and there is a friendly, charming quality to his playing. The selection of hoedowns and waltzes is interesting, and it is great to hear a master fiddler play tunes from Christenson's classic collection of old-time pieces. It is also incredibly valuable that Lamb included some of the older Danish accordion tunes on this recording. He learned these tunes from his father, and they are from the Danish immigrant tradition. These tunes are extremely difficult to find in American communities, and the CD preserves a valuable record of American history. This CD has well-written liner notes, and I was especially pleased to see that the notes were written by Lamb, himself, and that they provide a compelling musical biography of an old-time fiddler from Iowa. Even listeners who are new to old-time music, will enjoy this hearing Dwight Lamb play and reading about his musical experiences."
