CD Reviews

THIS ALBUM IS "THE [BEST]"
03/01/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"There is no other way to describe this album; that
is what my friends and I call it. It is one of the
few, perhaps the only album, that can make you
hallucinate. It is otherworldly and outlandish; it
creates the ultimate setting. It calms and soothes
your heart and brain after a night of intense ... partying. It is best listened to
in pre-dawn and dawn hours, lying down, while you're
in pretendo-sleep or can't sleep because your nose
is stuffed. This album makes it all better. On a
purely musical level it's all deep bass and bizarre
samples, creeping rhythm and Bill Laswell's usual
[GREAT] production."
One of the better Laswell projects
D. Ray Eriksen | San Francisco, CA | 10/09/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is one of Mr. Laswell's more rootsy, authentic-sounding projects, thanks to Style Scott's rock solid riddims. I don't get the nuclear theme... fortunately, any "atomic" references are mostly cosmetic, on the cover and song titles, but kept out of the actual music. Some of the songs go on a bit too long (a Laswell trademark), but it's perfect if you just put it on in the background for atmosphere. It's all the highest quality, nonetheless. In the great big wide world of Dub, this is one that is worth seeking out."
Essential 90s dub album
D. Ray Eriksen | 09/01/1999
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Style Scott of On-U on percussion and Bill Laswell on bass = dub heaven. Some hypnotic bass lines but occasionally the effects on the percussion are a bit overstated, hence 4 stars. Buy this album if you love dub."
