"The band Drexel, which played its last show on September 25, 2003, was perhaps one of the greatest bands that came out of boston, but broke up before its rightful recognition. This album is the fifth and final album brought forth by the band, its previous albums being Shot by Lammi, a split with BIG D, a local ska band, No One Told Me, perhaps the most perfect punk album ever made, i suggest you find this at all costs as it blows anything you thugh was punk away. Then came Whatever Whenever, and then came The Inevitable is Available, which revived the band from a temporary hiatus. What Went Wrong is an amazing statement from this bad, who started out as punk, and have found thier way into a strange indie-punk sound that has no comparison.
The album opens up with a short sound clip and then goes right into Track 01.(The band decided not to label the tracks with real names for the past two albums) Track 01 rips up with the addictive chorus "I wanna be you, what up why not? Then Track 02 opens up, having twop parts and being about 6 minutes long, it is like a double sng from dexel, being a very wierd melody. Then comes Track 03, starting with wierd guitar harmonics bends, it is a more radio friendly song, containing classic drexel harmoniuos guitars. Then comes Track 04 which contains an infectious guitar rhythm, and a very catchy melody overall. Track 05 is my personal favorite track, as it is simply amazing becuase of its complex harmonies, and the band's first use of a MOOG. The lyrics and music blend perfectly and this could be the most smootj-sounding drexel song ever made. Track 06 is another favorite, and is popular among my friends. It contains good lyrics, great guitar, and ends with over a minute of pure instrumentation that this band's fans all crave. Track 07 rises out of the echoes of its previous track, and the band declares YEAH WE WONT WAIT WE WONT and this head banging tune pounds out clearly, a very infectious song. Track 08 is an very strange song, having a drum breakdown in an almost nonesense place, but drexel makes it work, filling it with insane minor-harmonies so apparent in all of its' songs. The album ends with Track 09, starting with a strange guitar start and the band chanting "lets start with this lets start with something" and going into the song with ever-shifting drum beats and guitar parts. I simply cannot describe this album through words alone and i recommend it to anyone who is a fan of good music that is chalk filled with musicianship. Also, i reccomend the band's previous albums to any punk fans.

"I don't have Drexel's what went wrong, but I do have the album the inevitable is available- which is probably the most amazing piece of art I have ever heard. This album is about as artistic as it can get. It has freaky interludes, unusual instruments, and none of the songs have titles. But admidst the layers of instruments and pained vocals is a core of punk rock. And this core is what drives the music, while everything else establishes a mood as dark as midnight. This CD is great to listen to when you've had a bad day and are feeling depressed. I recommend it to fans of all music, punk or not. It sums up a lifetime of painful feelings- in about 45 minutes.



P.S- This music is kind of emo, but not like taking back sunday. This is the real deal here. Don't be turned away by this."
