(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is STILL my Favorite DREAM THEATER release . I own all of the bands cds, and I still regard this one so high on my list because of the most important thing - THE SONGS / SONGWRITING - This is STILL the best selling DREAM THEATER album , and gained them Radio Airplay , Video rotation, Mainstream Recognition that really got them out there . Songs like PULL ME UNDER -- TAKE THE TIME -- ANOTHER DAY -- UNDER A GLASS MOON still amaze ! A must own !!! If your into bands like DREAM THEATER [ MELODIC PROGMETAL ] I also suggest you seek out these bands cd releases here on AMAZON -- SYMPHONY X -- KAMELOT -- FATES WARNING -- QUEENSRYCHE -- MAGNITUDE NINE -- TNT -- RIVERSIDE -- YNGWIE MALMSTEEN"
The best album I have ever heard!
Dave Thoel | Michigan, USA | 12/31/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album just sparks and ignites tons of emotions just by listening to it. It is amazing the way they smoothly transition from various signatures, into a full blown masterpiece.

1. Pull Me Under (8/10) Even though it is one of their most popular songs, I still find it incredibly exciting to listen to. It has a great chorus, along with some great lyrics everyone must love.

2. Another Day (9/10) LaBries vocals are spot on with this one. You feel his emotion coming through your speakers when he sings the verses. A great song all around.

3. Take The Time (7/10) I love this song, but I can't say its the best off the album. It is great, but while the lyrics are good, there are few rhymes, which makes the song a little harder to fall in love with. Great drums by Mr. Portnoy however, and the bass sounds really good too.

4. Surrounded (10/10) I absolutely love this song. The signature that it is in just feels so natural, and LaBrie has his best vocal performance ever in this song, IMO. The guitar solo is trippy, and the way the song ends is just perfect, nothing more you can ask for.

5. Metropolis - Part I (9.5/10) A Great song all around. Great keyboard work here.

6. Under a Glass Moon (11/10) My all-time favorite Dream Theater song. The intro is amazing, and when the drums come in you can just feel the pressure building up, and it all leads into the most explosive chorus ever. "Outside the soundness of your mind... Bathing your soul in silver tears..." Just makes me shiver, and I feel as if I need to sing along every time I hear this song. Great guitar solo, possibly one of the best from Petrucci, as he does perfect clean, crisp sweeps near the end of the solo. If I had to invision a perfect song, this would be it.

7. Wait For Sleep (4/10) I almost want to skip this song just to get onto Learning To Live. Just boring for me, but that's just me.

8. Learning To Live (10/10) Great closing track. The keyboard part from Wait For Sleep in the middle of this song is great, the way it's played on a keyboard instead of a piano. The "Woaaahhh's" from LaBrie is probably some of the hardest notes to hit, and the way he sings them so naturally is just great.

If you had to buy one album on Amazon, and you couldn't decide between this, or Awake, or even Octavarium, this is the way to go. This tops any album by some of my other favorite bands, including Queensryche, Fates Warning, and other Progressive Metal bands from around the same era."
