Synopsis

Album Description
Sweden's DREAM EVIL have defied all odds and now belong to a small contingent of privileged bands that have been able to make a name for themselves in the burgeoning traditional Heavy Metal scene. With each album building on the sales of the previous, things hit a fever pitch after the band released The Book Of Heavy Metal. DREAM EVIL have wasted no time in preparing their fifth and most triumphant offering to date, In The Night. Their latest is a thoroughly complete offering that covers all the best elements of metal, from soaring power ballads to unforgettable, epic anthems, this album is an absolute must for all fans of traditional Heavy Metal and with the recent successes of Dragonforce and 3 Inches Of Blood, the time is now for metal heads to unite and rejoice in the return of DREAM EVIL.

CD Reviews

Phoenix rising in the night! It's more than a dream.
Nikiforos V. Skoumas | Athens Greece, Cambridge UK | 01/30/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Dream Evil" is the band led by revered Swedish metal producer Frederick Nordstrom positioned here as guitarist. "In the night" is their 5th studio album and the second since the departure of lead guitarist Gus G. In this latest release, "Dream Evil" commence where their previous studio album "United" left off. So you can rightfully expect more metal anthems plus a few slower hymn-like metal tracks; and clearly the band had always been fluent and effective in the composition of fist pumping rhythmic and choruses.

But in terms of overall sound is there any progress in the course of "Dream Evil"? I have to say yes. "In the night" sees the band in an attempt to integrate more harmonies, vocal and guitar wise, aiming for a slightly more melodic sound. As a fan of melodic metal I will naturally insist on the more melodic material: "See the light", "On the wind", "Electric" and the "Unchosen one"; plus "In the fires of the sun" which made me long for the summertime in the middle of winter!. This is material I will be hooked onto for quite some time. I certainly hope that the band continue to develop the melodic elements of their sound in their future releases as it definitely complements their sound and in no way does it distort the "Dream Evil" atmosphere.

The limited edition comes in hard digipack with two bonus songs increasing the track list up to 14 (a very satisfactory and complete metal proposition), plus a "Dream Evil" patch to attach to one's jacket.

Whether you go for the melodies or the sing along anthems, "In the night" gladly demonstrates both. For those who enjoyed the band's previous album, this is an unquestionable must.

"Metal Hammer" Greek magazine (issue 301) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "demolishes anything that stands in its way."

"Rock Hard" Greek magazine (issue 49) marks this album with 6/10 commenting: "superior to its predecessor, including a couple of potential hits."

There best cd yet... finally they have bested Dragon Slayer
L. Zimmerman | Nebraska | 02/10/2010

"This is the CD from these guys that I have been waiting for, the CD I knew the could finally make... there debut Dragon Slayer was amazing, I thought the next two cd were good, but not quite right, they were finding there way and there sound, they started to right the ship with United, but this CD is balls to the wall metal... there most metal outting yet. Not really any weak songs and a good handful that are catchy and addictive as hell. My personal favorite is Kill, Burn, Be Evil me personally i can not stop listening to this song and no matter how many times i do i'm always clenching my fist and pumping it when the chorus hits I just can't help it whether i'm here at home or in my car driving to work that is a fist pumping, turn your volume all the way up roll the windows down(even if it's been like 20 degrees here) song and i play it over and over again. Followed very closely by the title track Into the night and Bang your head and immortal.

I'm so glad I bought this cd i was thinking about giving up on these guys but i'm glad I didn't... I know it's only 6 weeks into the year and i don't expect it to last but for the moment this is my favorite CD of 2010. If you own any of Dream Evil's CD's and were on the fence like me... stop thinking and just go and get this amazing CD, this is there sound, this is there style and i hope they stick with it. Because this is Pure metal and listening to this cd is pure heavy metal bliss.

I look forward to receiving my next 2 cd's and reviewing those soon, a little more on the heavier side with Fear Factory's new beast of a cd Mechanize and Hypocrisy's new monster -Taste of extreme Divinity-(yes I know it's been out for awhile, finally listened to it a few times on youtube and looking forward to this one more then Virus) so i'm not just into the basic fun metal... i have a wide array of tastes, but it is fun to take it easy from time to time with a band like dream evil, after going easy for a bit it'll make these heavier cd's that much more fun to listen to. I must be getting old, cuz i just cant handle all the growling or grunts like i used to. thank god for bands like Dream Evil..."
