The Best Drags Yet?

"This is the latest, and best, full-length from The Drags. They've evolved into meta-garage, incorporating influences from the Jimmy Hendrix Experience to Hank Williams, Sr. The first song is aptly named "This is the Sound of Hard Rock." From there you're bombarded with the psychedelic "Dirty Little Bird" and possibly the best Drags song ever, "Kick Fighter." All the other songs are good, too, each sounding different from the last while still sounding like The Drags we know and love. The cover of Led Zeppelin's "Communication Breakdown" is amusing but unnecessary--but at least it's better than the Dickies' version. The Drags don't sound like other, more predictable garage bands. They've changed, and this is a good thing. "Garage purists" (a silly thing to be) might be offended by the broad range of noises on this CD, but any original garage band from the 60s would have killed to make this album."
