"It's no surprise that 20th century works such as this go unnoticed. Who in their right mind could find enough singers to sing passages of parallel diminshed and augmented 4ths with an a lush orchestration that has few, if any notes for the singer to hang onto. Yet this work gets away with it, and away well. The music of Weidburg, at times, stretches the boundaries of tonality without sounding like the noisy crash of most 20th century works. At other times, it effectively uses the more traditional contrivances of opera for love soaring duets and conflicts.This, coupled with a clever, sometimes campy, libretto, and a very energetic cast makes this a work worth studying, and perhaps even performing. ...."
