Synopsis

Product Description
Mick Rossi is an internationally renowned pianist, composer, percussionist, conductor and arranger.
For this project he teamed up with sound healing pioneer Dr. Jeffrey Thompson and embedded Alpha Wave Pulses into deeply transcendent keyboards, percussion, mbira, harmonium and bass clarinet.

Alpha waves are the brainwaves which people naturally produce in states of deep relaxation. Dr. Thompson has developed unique ways to combine these Alpha pulses with musical soundtracks. After a few minutes of listening your own brainwaves lock onto the pulses and transport you to a place where your mind is quiet, and your body let s go into states of deep and rejuvenating relaxation.

Mick Rossi a member of the Philip Glass ensemble has been heard with numerous artists including Roger Daltry, Hall & Oates, Jewel, Randy Newman, David Sanborn, and Carly Simon. His Broadway credits include The Who's Tommy ;Jekyll and Hyde; ;The Full Monty; among others. He has appeared on Jay Leno, PBS, Lifetime, VH-1, MTV and David Letterman.

DR. JEFFREY THOMPSON S clinical research with thousands of patients has led to groundbreaking discoveries in how sound frequency patterns built into musical soundtracks can alter states of consciousness and induce mind-body healing. His audio programs are used by Fortune 500 companies, health care professionals, and individuals worldwide.

CD Reviews

Not His Best Effort
R. MARK Plummer | From the Former USA | 04/10/2008
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I have over 16 CDs from the Dr Thompson and really enjoy most of them, HOWEVER, it IS a mixed bag. Some are outstanding and others are somewhat weak. "Sapphire Skies" is in the weak category, here's why: 'musicianship' or lack of it. I'm not certain how some of the CDs can be so well done, while others (like this one) can sound so amateur. Different musicians perhaps? The playing on this one is SO bad it's distracting.

Instead, I would give really high ratings to some other CDs from Dr. Thompson, for example, I really like the "delta" (natural and ambient) music releases, the two "gamma meditation" releases get a lot of spins around here, as do the "healing mind" CDs. The two "delta" sleep disks are wonderful also.

"Sapphire Skies" is just not his best effort."
A diiferent style of music but equally relaxing

"I am surprised to see such negative reviews, but on reflection I would guess that the previous reviewers were expecting this album to contain the same kind of ethereal ambient sounds that are on most of the Thompson brainwave albums.

The music on this album can be classified as ambient jazz and I find the slow paced melodies to be both hypnotic and relaxing."
