CD Reviews

It's a PLEASURE, but no PAIN!

"This 2 CD set is awesome. I might point out though, that the 3 CD set (also an import) Pleasure & Pain, has most of the same songs, and about 20 more! Gold is a BARGAIN at the Amazon price, but the other set is an even better set, though quite a bit more money. Either way, nothing comes close to an all encompasing 120+ songs "Master Collection" that most of us real fans would love to own. I paid about $20 for my Original Gold set, so the Amazon price really makes it worth buying, regardless of any other Dr. Hook CD's that you might own."
Nearly perfect

"Being a huge fan of Dr. Hook since the early days of the 'Medicine Show', and having their complete catalog of original LPs, I've long awaited a box-set of this talented group. This set contains nearly every one of their 'hits' as well as a number of other popular cuts, but what keeps it from earning a 5-star rating is the omission of probably their greatest song, "Cover of the Rolling Stone". How could this song be left out of this collection? It'd be like leaving "Joy to the World" out of 'Three Dog Night's' greatest hits. It's about time to start taking more care in assorting songs for a box set. And it's not as though Dr. Hook had a 20-year career or something. These guys' career was, for the most part, spent during the decade of the 70's. It's a shame, though, because it IS a wonderful collection of great songs from one of the great groups of the 70's."
