Synopsis

Album Description
"Pieces that began as alt country songs moved farther and farther away from their origins, evolving into a combination of Americana, jazz, and ambient that could no longer be put into any category ... [it] never touches the dusty, pothole-filled streets, but instead seems to float, to the effect that, as in David Lynch's Lost Highway, you see the yellow-painted median lines flying by ... 4 stars." - ROLLING STONE Like You Believe It is the second album from Seattle's Downpilot, whose personnel include members of the Wedding Present, Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter, Laura Veirs, and Tortured Souls. Their debut, Leaving Not Arriving, received high praise from national magazines like Rolling Stone, No Depression, and Harp, as well as strong support regionally. Influential Seattle radio station KEXP has already been championing Like You Believe It, and will add the album to coincide with its release.

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Following 2003's "Leaving Not Arriving", which was a masterfully created piece, mixing hipnotic melody and great songwriting, Downpilot return with "Like You Believe It" another great effort but more a Paul Hiraga solo effort guided with Tucker Martine's knob twirling and studio wizardry. Every track delicate and deep embued with much care bringing to mind the best moments of many 70's artistic endevours.

Paul Hiraga is a major talent whom, given the time and support will deliver a major piece of work that will leave everyone dazed and confused. For now, "Like You Believe It" will remain besides those other new releases that require constant revisitng for the soul."
