"This superb example of Ireland's great 'Downland Suite' is an ideal introduction to his orchestral work, and one way to encounter much else in the repertoire of this troubled man. The only gripe one might have with this is that it is too expensive for its relatively short length. Otherwise, the playing is exquisite, light, warm and with marvellous depth and distance. You shouldn't miss this, despite its apparent age: it will grow old very gracefully."
