CD Reviews

Dove Brothers song selection
Andrew Godfrey | Pineville, LA United States | 01/28/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Dove Brothers song selection on the Old Country Church is excellent. There is something for everyone on this CD. From John Rulapaugh's performance on Hide Thou Me to Burman Porter's rendition of Who Am I. These songs have never been sung better anywhere. Then the quartet sings probably the fastest southern gospel song ever in Didn't It Rain. The timing has to be perfect to sing a song this fast and they pull it off with a very polished performance.
McCray Dove's tribute to Glen Payne called The Preacher really gives you the feeling of how Glen Payne was an inspiration to everyone even in his dying moments as he sang till God took him away to glory.
If you love the older favorites of southern gospel this is the place to find them. If you can find the video for Old Country Church buy it and you will be able to capture the feeling even more of how the Dove Brothers know how to entertain and bless an audience at the same time.
After listening to this CD you will feel like you have been in a spirit filled church service and the title song will remind you of days gone by when people grew up and later had their funerals in the same country church. Buy this CD and you will receive a blessing."

"If you like Southern Gospel Quartets you will love this CD. It's the first Dove Brother's music I have purchased but it won't be the last. They are great, absolutely great."
