CD Reviews

One of the greatest solo guitar albums of all time
12/06/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Doug Smith's Alone Again is one of the greatest solo guitar albums of all time because of the liquid quality of his playing which is effortless and beautiful. Plus there is a variety of composition here that is simply brilliant - Beyond the Clouds is one of the most beautiful songs you'll here, Dance of the Gnomes transports you to a place and the title is just right, A Nursery Rhyme is no simple piece - it has fluidity and drive and is melodic, Millenium Force is his trademark "cool" style of guitaristic tricks and treats, Out of the Darkness is simply fingerstyle guitar at its best... Thank you Mr Doug Smith for continuing to amaze me by coming out with new projects and new melodies - it sounds genuine, brilliant, interesting, and creative - it's simply the greatest..."
Majestic solo guitar album soars "Beyond The Clouds"

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a very beautiful guitar album. Doug Smith has a liquid technique on the guitar, and his music seems to flow effortlessly. His solid technique is second to his compositional gifts, in which he balances beautiful soaring lines with cool tapping and artificial harmonics. My favorites are "Millenium Force," "Dance of the Gnomes," "Beyond the Clouds," and "A Nursery Rhyme." In the end, the guitar is only the tool by which the spirit of the music speaks, and Doug Smith is a master composer and musician."
