It is truly one of the best Don Ellis recordings. A while back, I almost bought a version of this cd released in England (on an on-line auction) for over 100.00 and am really happy I was Out-bid. It sounds like the album to me (without the scratches). The version of Indian lady on this album gives me goose bumps! The charging stand-up bass lines in the introducion of the song is just a small indication of the energy this chart offers the listener. The drum solos that follow the sax solo section are just amazing- especially when they bring it down with the same energy and the solo spreads out to the hardware, rims, and drum shells. Just a fantastic album....This was the missing piece of my CD collection ---well....this one and "soaring", but I bet with time wounded bird will appease us all and release that one too....Thanks again Wounded Bird!"
