This six-CD set comprises the ninety sonatas published in Venice in 1753. The complete collection will comprise thirty-eight CDs. The last volume will be issued in July, 2007 to coincide with the 250th anniversary of Scarlatti's death. Richard Lester is founder and artistic director of the Cirencester Early Music Festival, an annual event designed to promote excellence in the performance of early music. These recordings use the critical edition of the works completed in the early 1980s by Kenneth Gilbert.
