Synopsis

Album Description
Liquid Sound Design (Dragonfly's downbeat sister label), proudly presents the release of chill out master Dr. Alex Paterson's very own 'Voyage Into Paradise'. Alex Paterson virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient-house / down-tempo, with The Orb, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for the post club chill out experience. Having originally met Youth as roadie for Killing Joke in the 80's, Alex formed the Orb in the late 80's and after a few ambient experiments with Jimi Cauty (KLF) recorded the definitive classic 'Little Fluffy Clouds' with Youth. From the pulsating dub of Nomad's of Dub's opening track 'Spirals', the blissed out 'Buffalo' (taken from Youth's acclaimed Dub Trees albums) Son's of Arqa's unmistakeable version of Fleetwood Mac's 'Albatross', Thrash / Greg Hunter's mutated Killing Joke remix and Dr. Paterson's very own exclusive

Warm futuristic cybersonic journey in Jamaica

"After seeing the Orb live a couple months ago, i was very glad to pick up this cd for some further adventures in spacey dublands. Alex chose some nice tunes to round off 63 minutes, though they could have been placed more continuously mixed fashion for my taste. I loved the first and third tune by Nomads of Dub(dubbed and deep trancey as hell) and Sons of Arqa( the tune is like a lazy day on a beach in Hawaii,) and the fourth tune by The Rob seems to be a moniker because it is song 10 from the Orb's Cydonia album, but with a few vocal samples and bleeps in it. Dub trees did a nice second tune on the disc, heavy dubbed and not as lush as the first and third. Kiosk does the 5th song , which is only 2 and 1/2 minutes long, more of an intro to the 6th tune by Killing Joke which is a Guitar riffish Dave Gilmour sounding techy dub tune that comes along to wither a little bit of total bliss away from the past 5 tunes with some harsher abrasive musical suggestions. Industrial Suicide Tribe take track 7 for 15 lush minutes of Turkish tinged tones in dubby grooves and Easy does track 8 in a soulful jazz haze with some looped sax samples called D'ya dig'; A layback way to finish off the sea of spacey tracks. This disc is pretty crammed throughout with sampled voices looped and the like that we have come to hear from the Orb. I gave it 4 stars cuz for one or two tracks I am fully aware that i am listening to a cd and not 100% lost in some weird world that seeped out of the air. Know what i mean? Just taste i reckon. I say grab it, even though the import price is a mean one, unless you can find it used. Thanks Dr. Paterson and gang"

"Dr. Alex Paterson is member of "The Orb"If you like the Orb, You'll love this. If you're even remotely into the genre that the Orb defines (along old Aphex Twin, Orbital and FSOL) this is must-own material. I can't say it enough. Dr. Paterson's surreal soundscapes are ideal for contemplative drifting and relaxing. I would liken the sound to some of the mellow parts of the Orb's "Orbvs Tererrvm".Try it, you'll love it."

"This is Alex Paterson at one of his best. If your like the spacey sounds of some of the early Orb albums you will LOVE this one. Alex gets back to his roots of Chill and spins a smooth mix of trippy sounds and beats. Good luck finding it, Amazon.com could not get this order filled. Lucky for me their competitor did."
