CD Reviews

The truly soulful sound of Dobie Gray.....

"The initial cut on this album, "Drift Away," seems to play at least once a day on the radio. Unfortunately, it seems to be the only piece by this artist getting any play time. The rest of the album is just as good. This is a gentle ryhthm and blues experience - it will not toss you out of your chair - but it is deep and moving. Truly soulful and a delight in the middle of the evening. And get the import version - more cuts on the CD than the domestic version will have (artifact of the way royalties are paid in Britain and in the US)."

"I was happy to find this CD with ALL of my faves from 30 years ago sounding JUST HOW I REMEMBER THEM! City Stars, Rockin' Chair, Now that I'm Without You, We Had it All, Eddie's Song and of course, Drift Away!! And even MORE Gems that I missed at that time but are just as moving! Highly Recommended CD!!"
Some of the best music ever

"I heard Dobie Gray's "Drift Away" with Uncle Kracker over the summer and I thought it was really good despite the fact that I don't care for Uncle Kracker. I bought this CD with the feeling that "Drift Away" would be the only good song on the album. I was so happy to be proven so wrong. "Soulful Sounds of Dobie Gray" is a great album with excellent soulful music. It's a shame that music is not this good anymore. "Sweet Loving Woman," "Mississippi Rolling Stone," "Love is on the line," and "We had it all," really make this album worth the price. This is music for music lovers. It is a shame that Dobie Gray does not have the fame that others do not deserve. I would listen to Dobie Gray over Britney Spears or Madonna any day of the week."
