CD Reviews

Djavan still gives you more than your money's worth
Andrew S> Hoffman | 07/27/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Is there anything that is beyond Djavan's grasp? Apparently not, as Coisa De Acender is simply superb from start to finish. Linha, my favorite track on the disc, is by far one of the most enjoyable songs i've heard in a long time and shows off just how much Djavan has the ability to drive your emotions skyward with his splendid voice that NOBODY ELSE HAS. It's all his. Other great tracks include Boa Noite and Alivio. You want c**p? Buy any new American group's album. You want MUSIC with TALENT? Grab a copy now and you won't regret it. By the way, once you buy one of Djavan's discs, you'll be so impressed that you'll have to get more and more and more... and that's all i've got to say about that."
Knock out

"This artist is the world's least appreciated genius. An amazing singer and songwriter. It is stunning that Djavan is completely unknown in the US, even in this time of a supposed boom in latin music interest. Just sit back and listen to the lilting melodies! The lyrics are even better"
If you can't understand portuguese....

"There's no problem at all! Djavan songs are so deeply touching that you are able to feel them without understanding the lyrics. The best track of this cd is "Se..." with no doubt. That beginning with the drums really heats up! By getting this cd you'll have purchased one of the best examples of good brazilian music."
