Synopsis

Album Description
2008 collection from Disney, presenting their most famous tunes...with a twist! Disney may be best known for their cute and cuddly characters, but the Bossa Nova music is also part of the magic and attraction. This compilation takes a handful of great, memorable songs but instead of presenting them in the ol' familiar versions, they've collected up this set of tunes and added a Bossa Nova flavor!. Housed in a digipak featuring reproductions of original Disney hand drawings on the cover. 15 tracks. EMI.

CD Reviews

It is not because I am Brazilian...
C. Rebello | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | 11/23/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Can you imagine the seven dwarfs going to a mine singing Hi-Ho and more: with a bossa nova swing?

Trust me, with this album, you not only can but if you listen carefully it has the carioca way of life in it: colorful, happy and cheerful.

This album should have been released sometime ago, when I was a kid, but anyway I am happy to hear some of the best voices in the Bossa Nova Scenarium playing the songs that were part of my childhood. An extra attention should be given for the performances of Edu Lobo, Carlos Lyra, Quarteto em Cy and of Course Marcos Vale. Joyce's performances and Sanny's are in my opinion the highlight of this album. I bought if for my nephews and they are amazed. I am not saying this because I am from Rio de Janeiro, but honestly speaking brazilians and all the world should be thankful for our gifted musicians, for having such outstanding musical skills and for having given to the world one of the greatest styles ever: the mix of jazz and samba, the Bossa Nova, no doubt about it.

The only thing that an american customer may complain about this album is that all of its songs are performed in portuguese, which pardon my saying, it is not only understandable bur also makes total sense since Bossa Nova was created in Rio.

I hope Disney considers about making this a collection of several Bossa Nova albums, that's a great way to introduce great quality music to children."
