"This cd is my dream come true. I have always been a fan of disaster movies and especially the music from them. But unfortunately most of the ones I love are from before my time, so I can't find the soundtracks anywhere. This cd includes some of the best disaster movie music. The lesser known tune of Nearer My God to Thee from A Night to Remember is so moving and beautiful that I cry almost each time I hear it. I surprised and delighted by the choice to use David Shire's original idea for the theme from the Hindenburg, using a soprano to sing along with the solo trumpet. John Barry's Raise the Titanic suite is a wonderful piece of music, evoking the moods of the movie quite well. James Horner, of course, is wonderfully represented here in the Titanic and Deep Impact selections. At last a collection of my favorite disaster movies themes in a great cd."
