Great CD with full-length versions of songs shortened for the "Best Of" CD. Vintage Dire Straits which only gets better the more you listen to it. Understated and highly professional musicians led, of course, by Mark Knopfler himself.

This is my favorite Dire Straits album. Mark Knopfler's guitar playing is superb, and the songwriting is just amazing. Several of the songs have long, introspective instrumentals, which is a nice departure from some of their other albums.

An epic tour de force

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I feel sorry for the reviewer who said she'd prefer it if the two long tracks were several four minute tracks. Says a lot for her attention span and ability to concentrate (not). I could recommend a few bands for her, but I might get flamed by crowds of 13-year old females.

These tracks are absolutely fantastic. How could you get the amazing music development, slow sustained and incredibly controlled buildup and story theme into four minutes?

This is my favorite album of all times. It contains all of the best Dire Straits tracks with the exception of "Money for Nothing."

Fantabulous."
