CD Reviews

Unique Sound!!! Definitely Worth a Listen

"I can't think of a single female singer today who has a sound like Dilana Smith. She can rock yet she is soulful. Some of the tunes are graphic (parental controls advised), but old and new rockers should definitely give her a try. I think you'll want more!"
7 years and I still listen to it....

"I bought this cd by Dilana 7 (!) years ago when it was just released here in the Netherlands. In all this time I must have put it on hundreds of times. I loved her voice right from the start, although I can understand some of the reviews here that say this cd is too poppy, and too much of the same thing.

But let me point out -again- that this cd was originally released 7 years ago. It might be more pop than her performances on Rockstar Supernova but this was a long time ago. She's older now, she's had years to learn and improve her voice and writing, years to gather life experience as well, and I'm sure she's absolutely more than ready now to take on America. I can't wait to see what her next album will bring.

As for this cd; after all these years I still listen to it. The Elvis Motor-Inn, Livin' By The Day and Secret Of My Soul are songs that I will probably never get tired of.

If you are looking for hard rock this cd isn't your thing. If you have a broader taste in music, if you don't mind the pop influences; just give it a try, you might just like it ;)"
It's definately listenable

"I watched Rockstar:Supernova for my Rock-n-Roll Goddess Storm Large (of Storm and the Balls) and was surprised to find that there was another lady worth rooting for. Dilana's fierce delivery of songs on that show (Zombie & Lithium to name a couple) doesn't come across as strong on the CD, but that is not to say that the CD is bad. It is pop music - Dilana seems to write pop songs - but her delivery is made for rock-n-roll. I'll agree with another reviewer in that she needs to work more with a songwriter, but from a delivery and presentation perspective, she's got the goods. I'm looking forward to the CD that Gilby will produce for her."
